PRINCIPLES & ETHICS

Founding Statement of Principles

We, the members of Avodah, commit ourselves to the following foundational principles as we seek to honor God, grow in faith, and build a Christ-centered community within the marketplace:

1. Interdenominational Unity
We welcome members from all Christian denominations who affirm the Apostles’ Creed, emphasizing our shared faith in Christ and the essentials of the Gospel. We seek unity in the body of Christ while celebrating diversity in practice and tradition.

2. Stewardship
We acknowledge that all we have—our time, talents, and resources—comes from God. We commit to using these gifts wisely to honor Him and to build His Kingdom on earth through our work, relationships, and influence.

3. Kingdom Action Through the Local Church
We believe the local church is the primary expression of God’s Kingdom on earth. We actively engage with and support our local churches, recognizing them as the foundation for spiritual growth and community impact.

4. Christian Witness
We commit to contending for the faith and being examples of Christ in our personal and professional lives. Through integrity, kindness, and excellence, we strive to reflect God’s love and truth in our communities.

5. Service Through Our Gifts
We believe that God has uniquely gifted each of us to serve others. We commit to using our skills, talents, and opportunities to bless others in every area of life—our faith, family, business, and community.

6. Commitment to Community and Collaboration
We value relationships and commit to supporting one another in faith and business. Whenever possible, we will prioritize giving and receiving business within the Avodah community, fostering mutual trust and shared success.

7. Accountability to God’s Standard
We hold ourselves accountable to live by biblical principles in all we do, striving for excellence, humility, and faithfulness in our personal, professional, and spiritual lives.

By committing to these principles, we align ourselves with God’s purpose for our lives and work, seeking to glorify Him in everything we do. Together, we aim to be a light in the marketplace, a support to the local church, and a blessing to the world around us.

Code of Ethics

  • We commit to:

    • Integrity: Be honest and trustworthy in all business dealings, avoiding deception, misrepresentation, or unethical practices.

    • Fair Pricing: Provide fair and transparent pricing for products and services, ensuring that customers and clients receive value for what they pay.

    • Excellence: Deliver high-quality work and honor commitments, striving to exceed expectations in every transaction.

    • Communication: Maintain clear and respectful communication with clients, colleagues, and fellow members, avoiding gossip, slander, or unkind remarks.

    • Confidentiality: Respect the privacy of sensitive business and personal information shared within the group or by clients.

    • Legal Compliance: Operate in full compliance with local, state, and federal laws, as well as industry regulations.

  • We recognize that disputes may arise, and we are committed to resolving them in a manner that honors Christ and promotes unity.

If a dispute arises between members:

    1. Initial Resolution: Members should first attempt to resolve the matter directly, in private, with humility and a desire for reconciliation.

    2. Mediation Through Leadership: If the issue remains unresolved, either party may request mediation from the Avodah leadership team. Leadership will act as neutral facilitators to help members address relational or practical concerns.

      • Note: The Avodah leadership team will not engage in legal proceedings or formal disputes. Their role is limited to fostering understanding and promoting a peaceful resolution.

    3. Biblical Guidance: Members are encouraged to follow the biblical model of reconciliation as outlined in Matthew 18:15-17, seeking restoration rather than retribution.

    If reconciliation is not possible:

    • Members agree to part ways amicably, understanding that the priority is preserving the witness of Christ and the unity of the group.

  • We commit to:

    • Support Other Members: Whenever possible, prioritize giving and receiving business within the Avodah community, provided the services meet ethical and professional standards.

    • Avoiding Conflicts of Interest: Disclose any potential conflicts of interest when engaging in business within the group.

    • Promoting Unity: Avoid divisive behavior and maintain a spirit of cooperation, grace, and encouragement toward fellow members.

  • The Avodah leadership team is dedicated to fostering a community of integrity and accountability. However, leadership will not act as arbitrators or participate in legal disputes. Their involvement is limited to relational and practical mediation when requested.

By affirming this Code of Ethics, members agree to uphold these principles in their business and personal interactions, reflecting the character of Christ in all they do. Failure to adhere to this Code may result in a review of membership by the leadership team and, if necessary, removal from the group.

Affirmation

of Faith

As a member of Avodah, I affirm my Christian faith through the historic Apostles' Creed, a declaration of the essential truths of the Gospel:

I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth.

I believe in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried;

He descended to the dead. On the third day He rose again; He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father; He will come again to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic (universal) Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

By affirming the Apostles' Creed, I declare my faith in the triune God—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—and my commitment to live as a follower of Jesus Christ in all areas of my life, including my work, relationships, and community.
